Our first snow fall of the season is making it's way to the area. The snow is expected to start around 1:00 AM Saturday Morning and go until midday Saturday. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for our area until approximately 1:00 PM Saturday. This means:

SNOW AND FREEZING RAIN. * SNOW ACCUMULATIONS... 3 TO 5 INCHES. * ICE ACCUMULATIONS... UP TO A TENTH OF AN INCH. * TIMING... SNOW TONIGHT CHANGING TO FREEZING RAIN SATURDAY MORNING. * IMPACTS... HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED DUE TO SNOW AND ICE. * TEMPERATURES... RISING FROM THE LOWER 20S TO THE LOWER 30S BY MID MORNING. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW... SLEET... OR FREEZING RAIN WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES... AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING

With the incoming snowfall, we ask that you please take the time out to go and shovel 3 FT around your nearest fire hydrant in the event of a fire, this will save us valuable time if done. When the snow comes, we do our best to go around our response area and shovel however we are volunteers. This means it sometimes takes us a few days to shovel the hundreds of fire hydrants in our response area. Shoveling just one fire hydrant could save a life. Please take it slow and do not rush to where ever you are going. Stay indoors during the storm if possible and only go out if it is completely necessary. Stay safe, stay warm and Happy Holidays.
