14 Oak Street Fire |

On Tuesday August 9th at approximately 21:19 hours the West Harrison Fire Department was dispatched with a Harrison Tower Ladder and a Purchase Engine to 14 Oak Street for a report of smoke in the basement. Car 2501 arrived on scene in less then 1 minute and confirmed he had a smoke condition in the basement. Engine 267 arrived on scene in under 2 minutes and entered the structure and located a heavy smoke condition in the garage. At this time Car 2501 transmitted a 10-75 bringing a FAST (Fighter Assist and Search Team) from Valhalla, a Ladder from North White Plains, Harrison EMS, and Battalion 19 to the scene. Crews located a small fire in the rear of the garage in a storage closet caused by an overheated extension cord. The fire was quickly knocked down and contained to the area of origin with no extension. Crews from Purchase and West Harrison preformed primary and secondary searches of the house while crews from Harrison assisted West Harrison with overhaul. The scene was placed under control shortly thereafter. While units were operating , A Port Chester Tower Ladder and an Armonk Engine provided district coverage. All units cleared the scene at 22:50 hours with no injuries to any firefighters or civilians.
